Environment Policy Statement

WI International Ltd T/A Hospitality Projects recognises the importance of environmental protection and is committed to operating its business responsibly and in compliance with all legal requirements relating to the manufacture, supply and installation of furniture and related finishes. It is the Organisation’s declared policy to operate with and to maintain good relations with all regulatory bodies.

It is the Organisation’s objective to carry out all measures reasonably practicable to meet, exceed or develop all necessary or desirable requirements and to continually improve environmental performance through the implementation of the following:

 

Sourcing Materials: 

To utilize raw materials and processes which make minimum demands on the environment and which produce minimum waste.   

 

Production: 

To carry out our production processes using environmentally friendly materials and equipment, which are energy efficient and produce minimal waste when disposed of.

 

Waste and Recycling:

To minimise the waste produce through the business activities and look for innovative ways to recycle waste material.

The company will ensure that it fulfils its obligation under the Producer Responsibility Obligations (Packaging Waste) Regulations 1997. 

 

Energy: 

To reduce the demand for energy resources from our activities. 

 

Transport & Distribution:

To utilize, where applicable, efficient distribution and transport systems for goods and personal.

 

Consumers:

To provide all the information necessary to enable products to be poorly used, stored and disposed of as to avoid damage to the environment. 

 

Employment and Training:

To ensure that all employees are in a position to improve environment performance by providing appropriate information and training.

 

Organisation

1.1 The CEO will be responsible for establishing and implementing the environmental policy for WI International Ltd. 

1.2 Continuous development for the policy will take place in consultation with operations management to ensure that the requirements of the policy ae able to be fulfilled and that the information is provided to all sites and acted upon. 

1.3 Consultation will take place with employees on a regular basis in order to obtain their views. (During our worker council meetings).

1.4 Information relating to the WI International’s polices should be related to both suppliers and customers.   

1.5 The policy can only be successful with the assistance of the WI International, and the Operations team should ensure that their clients and suppliers are fully appraised of the intentions and requirements of this policy. 

1.6 It will be the responsibility of the Operations Director to ensure that the requirements of this policy are actively pursued at both sites.

1.7 The level of compliance with this policy will be assessed during internal site audits carried out by the operations team and will be subject to formal review by the company on an annual basis.

 

Sourcing Materials

2.1 We will encourage all of our suppliers to minimise the amount of packaging used on all our incoming goods.

2.2 Suppliers will be encouraged to use biodegradable to use recyclable or reusable systems.

2.3. Whenever a new product is being developed WI International will advise suppliers, where possible to use ecologically-friendly materials. 

 

Production

3.1 All staff will ensure that the use of all types of power resources e.g. water, electricity and gas, is kept to a minimum by responsible practice. This requirement will be a key point during staff induction training. 

3.2 Staff will ensure that all waste is disposed of in a hygienic manner in manner in compliance with the requirements of this policy. 

3.4 The company COSHH policy will ensure the use of chemicals is carefully controlled and that all chemicals are stored, applied and disposed of in a prescribed matter. 

 

Recycling

4.1 Paper and cardboard disposal will be organised by the operations team, only using approved waste collection and recycling businesses. 

4.2 Wood represents a large percentage of materials used during the manufacturing process therefore this presents a great opportunity to reduce and recycle waste. All waste will be either recycled responsibly or reused on future projects.

4.3 Plastics disposal will be organised by the operations team, only using approved waste collection and recycling businesses.

 

Waste Management

5.1 Waste Transfer

The disposal of waste by the Environment Protection act- Duty of care regulations 1992. This legislations places for main responsibilities on WI International who produce controlled waste defined as mixed waste. 

These are:

  1. To ensure that the person or company collecting the waste is a registered waste carrier
  2. To ensure that all our waste is securely packed or contained.
  3. To ensure that a description of the waste is given to the registered waste carrier.
  4. To ensure the waste transfer note is completed and a copy given to the waste carrier

Waste will be prevented from spilling, leaking, blowing away or being attack by pests whilst awaiting collection. Waste stored outside will therefore be stored in a secured, lidded container. WI International deploy pest control systems. 

 

 

Transport

6.1 The company will ensure that we work with log supplier in order to ensure all vehicles utilized will be subject to regular maintenance program in order to promote energy efficiency.

 

Training 

All staff will receive training on key requirements of this policy as it affects their work. This will include reasons for WI International commitment to promoting a safe and healthy environment. 
All managers will include environmental issues as part of their monthly audit required by the company safety policy.
All staff will be encouraged to comment on environmental issues during weekly/monthly meetings to include work council meetings.
